Tuxedo residents may original photographic prints inspired by the book,
Tuxedo Park: The Historic Houses. James is pleased to donate 15% of his profits to the Tuxedo Historical Society (www.tuxedohistoricalsociety.org).
"Technically perfect and rigorously composed, James Bleecker's photographs are still capable of reducing you to tears by their melancholy beauty."
– Edgar Munhall, Curator Emeritus, The Frick Collection
Fine Art Prints
Fine art prints of
selected images of Tuxedo Park may be ordered. Property owners may order images of their own houses.
Using artist's pigments on Hahnemuhle etching paper the artist has adapted the materials of the traditional engraver. Unlike glossy photos, the image radiates from within the fibers of the paper. In keeping with the engraver's craft, Bleecker prints on an oversize sheet, leaving a wide margin that contains his signature and the print title.
Prints may be mounted and framed to the same standards as Bleecker's Chelsea gallery prints. A custom hardwood frame is hand-built by the Philippe Laumont studio of New York City. It is constructed with traditional splined joints for strength, and is stained and polished to a tone that complements the individual image. Recessed within the two-inch deep frame, the mounted print is protected by a sheet of museum glass. The display is jewel-like in its clarity and virtually glare-free.
Printing, mounting and framing methods are to museum standards for archival permanence. Approximate overall paper dimensions are shown below; please ask for the exact dimensions of a given print. Add two inches total for the frame.
• 12x18-inch image printed on 19x24-inch sheet: $1,500, or $1,900 framed
• 30x40-inch image printed on 43x54-inch sheet: $2,500, or $3,300 framed
Commissioned Fine Art Photogrpahs
Tuxedo residents may commission an original fine art print. The photographer begins by delivering a series of location "scouting" shots. Once the client chooses a general view (or views), James returns for several visits to capture a variety of lighting effects. In the studio, elements from these exposures are selected and merged into the final image – an intensive process through which James's signature "painterly" style emerges.
Printing and framing are to the standards of a fine art print
(above). Please contact the studio for pricing.
Estate Portfolios
Property owners may commission a unique portfolio featuring twelve or more original views of interiors, exteriors and grounds. For residents whose houses appear in
Tuxedo Park: The Historic Houses, the portfolio might incorporate existing photographs. In association with the Brewer-Cantelmo studio of New York City, prints are bound into a handmade portfolio covered in tooled leather or silk. Or, prints may be individually matted and presented as a boxed set, together with a mahogany architect's easel for display.
An estate portfolio is both a record of provenance and a work of art to be passed down through the family. Please contact the studio for pricing.
