James has been photographing and creating films about his home state of New York since 1982. He has received commissions from The Frick Collection, The Morgan Library, the Rockefeller family and The American Museum of Natural History. His honors include a Bernstein Prize from The Rhode Island School of Design, The Gold Award from The American Association of Museums, and a CINE Golden Eagle (National Independent Cinema). The artist lives in New York City, where he is represented by Allen Sheppard Gallery in Chelsea.
